Neil Cragg Retains 2wd Euro Title

One of my favorite rc sites oOple.com, who are present at this weeks 1/10th EP Buggy European Championships, are reporting that defending champion Neil Cragg got off to a good start in the 2wd class, being quickest in practice and going on to win all five qualifying rounds to take an easy pole for the final. Over the three final legs Neil fought a hard battle with Paul Bradby for the title, a Nail biting fight on the last leg between these two saw Neil take the title, Paul Bradby second and Hupo Honigl third. I want to say a big congrats goes out to Neil Cragg on another great win. Neil is one of my all time favorite European drivers, great job at the European championships.

Tamiya Discontinues The TRF416

Word around RC Tech is that the new race chassis from tamiya is now discontinued. Some people say that it is just listed like that because there is none ready to ship. Only time will tell for sure what is up. I know from experience that Tamiya comes out with a great chassis. Sometimes they choose to then come out with a special edition chassis. Maybe they got an improved chassis coming soon, maybe something else. Here is a link for the 416 on their tamiya america site. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=42106. On another note they also discontinued the TAO5-R. I have been looking forward to purchasing one & I didn't make it. I am really disappointed I missed ordering one by one day. Maybe I will find another Tamiya chassis to buy instead.

Barry Baker Joins Team Magic

Barry Baker has announced that he is leaving Team RC America and Xray to race for Taiwanese manufacturer Team Magic. A move away from Xray seemed to be on the cards when he started using Team Orion products in his car recently, moving away from the RC America team deal with Trinity. Barry released the following statement:

I just wanted to announce that myself and Team Magic Model LTD. have joined forces!

I will be representing Team Magic not only in the racing part of the company but also in the development of the products they have and will be coming out with.

I look forward to help with the development of not only the race vehicles but also the rtr vehicles!

I will be using all of Team Magics Products....E4RS for Rubber tire racing...E4FS for foam tire racing...G4RS for Gas car racing.....and the M1B for 1/8th off road....

With the help of K-Factory and H.A.R.D products I will do my best to put them in the winners circle!

Not only will I be working directly with the factory, I also will help promote the car not only worldwide but I also know how hard Wolf Hobbies works in the U.S and I will help them as much as I can!

I will debut with the cars at the IIC...Anyone going feel free to come check them out and I will be more then happy to answer any question there......As for questions about the Cars right now I need to have a few weeks to learn about them and I will start a question answer thread on here!

Today, I had the pleasure of interviewing Aaron Reichow. Aaron also goes by AaronR on rctech.net. As well he is a personal friend of mine. I wanted to get the dirt on him first. All my interviews are going to be simple and straight to the point. Anyone can and will be interviewed if they agree. Keep an eye out because I might just interview you. Racing for 2 years, but have had R/C cars for 22
years now

What classes have you raced –

Started racing Sportsman off-road in March 2006 with
RC10B4 at Trackside, then moved to stock buggy in
Summer 2006. Purchased TRF501X in Feb. 2007 and
started racing 4WD Mod Buggy in March 2007.

Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got involved in RC?

My parents used to rent a cottage on Pewaukee Lake
and the owners son had a Tamiya Frog and AYK Gator. I
couldn't believe my eyes how a car could be controlled
by ME haha! My Dad purchased the AYK Gator from him
and I think I received it for Christmas one year.
Absolutely hooked ever since and later purchased a
Tamiya Hornet. After high school, I purchased a Losi
XX but sadly never got into racing it, just used it
for fun in backyards and on baseball diamonds.

What is your favorite class and car to race and why?

Favorite class has to be 4WD Mod buggy with my 501X.
Car is so fun to drive and relatively easy to drive
fast. I have improved my driving over the two years
I've been racing but I will credit this car for alot
of that in my opinion.

Have you got a favorites track, if so which one?

Favorite track is Trackside, simple facts are that it
is local, has great people associated around it and
Scotty and crew have good race programs. Dirt Heaven
in Champion, WI is also a great place for indoor
off-road racing.

Do you have sponsors of any kind and who?

No sponsors

Apart from RC what other hobbies do you enjoy?

My only other serious hobby is skeet shooting which
if I honestly had a brain, I would do that more often
than R/C racing (I am a way better shooter than racer
haha!). I enjoy baseball (playing and watching) too.

What would you consider your biggest racing achievement so far?

No serious achievements... I've won some 4wd A Main
club races recently against some good drivers, so I'm
pleased with that. I've had good qual times and
finishes in the Wisconsin Off-Road Championship Series
that I am again pleased with, so things in my R/C
world are good! :)

What all classes do you race now and where?

I now primarily race 4WD Mod Buggy at Trackside, plan
to get my RC10B4 back in action and will likely run
13.5 touring car this summer at Trackside (asphalt and
carpet).

Any other comments?

I would like to thank Dave Watkins for getting me
back into R/C and especially into R/C racing, David
St. Peter for all the help over the last two years,
everyone I've met at Trackside and Dirt Heaven, you
guys are great and to my loving girlfriend Jen for
allowing me to spend alot of time at the track and
racing all these events.

Odds & Ends pt. 2

Hello Everyone, well it seems to be that I cannot maintain my blog again. Since my last post my 12L4 has got here as well as my 4cell gtb. The 12L4 of course came exactly as described and I am happy with that. Only problem is that the carbon fiber chassis is not sealed as nicely as I wanted to see. It is sealed but I guess I am just way too picky when it comes to that.

As for the 4cell gtb, it turned out to be a lot nicer than I had thought. Only problem I am seeing is that I need a longer positive battery wire. A little thing mainly nothing to much to worry about. With some needed parts for my 12L4, I think I am sitting at about $350.00 totally invested into this 12L4. That is the car, new tires, new body, mini servo, lowered rear pod plates, lowered front arms, shims, new axles(I hate e-clips), extra steering knuckles, 4cell gtb(Not Needed).

The only thing that was not something I needed was the 4cell gtb. Well & ok the body, but if you look at the one it came with you would buy a new one too. The lowered arm and pod plates are not something you need either. It is something suggested to have on a 12L4 to get the most use of your tires that you can. Me of course on a budget, I will get the most use out of those foam tires I can. The axles, shims and knuckles were also my choice, the mini servo is needed.

I guess really for what I have spent so far I could of bought myself a TC5. So on to my next ramble I guess you can say. The guy that I wrote about before that finally got his package. Well he knows I am selling more stuff on ebay. When I list this one item I told him about, he wants to me call him. Guess what this guy lives in New York, wow I guess I am in demand. Well at least on ebay I can sell things not so good when it comes to rctech.net.

The other package I sent that came back before. The guy finally paid me again to ship it and he finally actually picked it up. I told him if he didn't this time I would resell the item and not refund his money. I guess that made him a little nervous or he actually got off his butt. I want to apologize to my readers for the lack of updates. I was having a hard time thinking of what to write about.

I guess if I would of at least started maybe the words would flow out like it did today. Another bit of news I would like to share with everyone. Kenny the manager of Trackside had surgery on Saturday. They removed 2 & 1/2 liters of fluid from around his lungs. He is suppose to be released from the hospital today. Until he recovers he will not be at Trackside giving you crap or ordering anything. My best wishes goes out to Kenny on his road to recovery.

Well I guess for today I am done writing what all I need to say. Next time I will be doing some product reviews and maybe some other things. One of the reviews is on the new JConcepts small racing bag. That is all for now have a great day and enjoy your life everyday.

Odds & Ends pt. 1

As of today I am still waiting on my 12L4 to arrive as well as my 4cell GTB. The speed control is coming from somewhere in the Milwaukee area. My 12L4 well that is a totally different story, I don't know where that is coming from. On too some better news, yesterday someone from new york finally got their package.

I shipped it right away after I was paid and seen that it was delivered three days later. To my dismay the buyer emailed me to tell me he never got it. Well two and a half weeks or more of calls. Friday he finally had the package delivered to his house. I was happy to hear despite major package damage the items were ok when he received it.

Some even better news, I got my replacement crystals back from performance devices. I had been in contact with who I assume is the owner Pete. He hooked me up with my replacements as well as another set. He felt that I was not 100% happy with their service. I had made somewhat of a smart alack comment when I emailed them. So once again sorry for my comment Pete.

Other bad news I guess I can say is another package I shipped has been sent back. This guy paid me $125.00 for it only to let it sit at the post office for almost 11days. Best part is he will be paying me another $20.00 to ship it back to him once again. This time if it does get sent back again, I will resell it and won't give him a refund. I contacted other parties to see if I can legally do that and I was told yes.

His problem with not picking it up was he was busy. If I paid money for something I would stop and pick my stuff up. Here is my first blog question for my reader or readers. Post a comment on this blog and answer yes or no give comments as well if you want. "If you paid money for something and were busy, would you pick it up so it wouldn't be shipped back?"

12th Scale Racing

Well I have finally made the plunge into 12th scale racing. A few guys from my local track are trying to bring it back. It has been awhile since 12th scale has been a regular Tuesday night class. The last time they offered 12th scale you could run for free. This never seemed to draw more than the usual 4-5 guys. I am hoping this go around it will draw way more people. I made a decision to help with the class growth. I have purchased a new unused but assembled associated 12L4 from RC tech.

About an hour ago I made another purchase of a 4cell gtb Brushless speed control. Of course this is from another member of RC tech as well. There is a few more parts I need to purchase that I will actually buy from the hobby shop. I feel bad not buying from the hobby shop but I wanted the stuff dirt cheap. To me that way if I either don't like it or after some practice I completely suck. I didn't spend a whole bunch and I can turn around and sell it fast. Around here 12th scale racing is pretty low, in other parts of the us it is the main class. I am just hoping this class with pick up and be tons of fun and cheap to run as I am told.

Well I guess for today this is all I got to blog about maybe more next time. Be sure not to check out my blog everyday as sometimes I just don't feel like writing.
